About Sam Wells

Hello, I am Sam Wells.  Since 2006 I have been creating, enhancing and tending to the gardens of residents and businesses.

I take my inspiration both from a love of nature (being a keen hiker to forests, mountains, caves) and from my visits to famous gardens around the world.  Living in the UK for several years provided me with the opportunity to observe exceptionally well-considered designed gardens (Sissinghurst Castle and Stourhead to name two favourites).

Prior to 2006, I attained a Certificate IV in Horticulture and worked for notable Perth landscapers such as Miriam Moore and Frank O’Brien.  I also maintained public gardens with the Town of Mosman Park for three years and completed a number of bushland restoration contracts at Kings Park.

I love making gardens that will mature and be enjoyed for years - ones that match the site’s requirements and the individual client’s needs.

I have extensive experience volunteering on conservation projects in Perth, regional WA and overseas.  In line with this interest, my business is committed to environmentally considerate landscape practices, including water-wise irrigation, sustainable material selection, climate-suitable plants and effective soil preparation.

At my home in metro Perth’s southwest I have been creating a display garden.  It includes features such as fruit trees, flowers that attract pest predators, a chicken aviary, fire pit, ephemeral wetlands and even a grotto (all of which are tested for destructibility by my young daughter).

Having experienced so many fabulous gardens in my life, I harbour hopes of realising landscapes I have imagined myself.  Hopefully, I can impart some of this inspiration in creating a garden for you.
